They received over $240K in scholarships and all of them were accepted to college. In addition, 91% of them qualified as National Merit Scholars, and one was a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Competition - an impressive accomplishment. She received a full scholarship and attends Vanderbilt University. Other graduates attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Haverford College, and Temple University.

Background & Lottery Information

In 2011, the York Academy was established as a nonprofit public school, chartered by Central York, York City and York Suburban School Districts. Parents may apply each year from February 1 - March 31. It's of benefit for them to apply at that time so their children are included in the annual Lottery. The 2023-24 Lottery will be held on Monday, April 3 at 5:30 p.m. It will be live streamed on our YouTube Channel.

Each grade is filled with a specific number of students, selected by lottery. Priority is given to siblings of current students and to those who reside in our three chartering districts (Central York, York City and York Suburban). If the available openings are not filled by these students, children from other districts are offered admission. Any additional students are placed on a waiting list. Currently, students from 14 school districts in 26 zip codes are enrolled. Parents may apply after March 31, but their child will be added to the end of the waiting list.

If an opening becomes available throughout the school year, parents will receive an email. They must choose to decline or accept placement (attend York Academy or not) within five days. If they decline, the seat is offered to the next child on the waiting list, and so on.
