Admissions

Thank you for your interest in the York Academy!
Currently, there is a waiting list for all grades (K-9), but we invite you to complete the online application so your child can be added. More information about the Admissions Process is explained below.

The lottery for the 2023-24 school year was held live on Monday, April 3 on our YouTube ChannelIf your child is on the waiting list and an opening becomes available, we will contact you at the email address you used when you applied. This may happen throughout the school year.

Applications for the Lottery for the 2024-2025 school year will be accepted during February and March 2024. If your child is currently on the waiting list and has not been offered enrollment by January 2024, we encourage you to apply again for the 2024-25 school year. PA Charter School Law does not permit charter schools to roll over applications from year to year, so you will need to complete the application process again.

Please check back in January for details and find out when we'll be hosting Admissions Information Sessions for the 2024-25 school year.

The Application
 Process

Students across Pennsylvania are invited to apply to attend the York Academy. Each grade is filled with a specific number of students, selected by Lottery. Priority is given to siblings of current students and to those who live in our chartering districts: Central York, York City, and York Suburban. If those children do not fill all the openings, we offer placement to those from other districts. Additional children are placed on a waiting list. We contact parents in Lottery order during the school year if there is room for their child.

Although applications are accepted anytime, we highly encourage families to apply in February and March, so their child is included in the annual Lottery for the upcoming school year. Otherwise, they must be added to the end of the waiting list.

Completing the Application

When you complete the application, you will need to upload photos of two proofs of residency that reflect your child's home address.

Examples of the first proof of residency:
A copy of your rental lease agreement or home purchase agreement, 2022 tax bill, 2022 school property taxes, W2, 1040 or a notarized letter stating the parent's address and that the child resides there.

Examples of the second proof of residency:

A copy of your driver's license, pay stub, utility bill (ex. water, sewer, electricity), insurance card (ex. auto) or bank statement.
