As part of the IB Diploma Program, students are required to be fluent in two languages by graduation. This includes their native language and another
language. Currently, the York Academy provides Spanish and English instruction.

Beginning in kindergarten, students participate in Spanish class two times during each six-day academic cycle. It becomes a major subject starting in
seventh grade (and beyond). Spanish classes are designed to provide an energetic, supportive learning environment that teaches vocabulary and
conversation skills and encourages cultural exploration.

The IB Programme at York Academy extends learning far beyond the classroom, offering students rigorous academics alongside meaningful real-world
and global experiences. Through their studies in language, culture, and international-mindedness, students have the opportunity to participate in annual
educational trips to Latin American countries, where they deepen their understanding through cultural immersion and firsthand experiences. Students
actively help raise funds each year to support these transformative journeys, building leadership, responsibility, and global citizenship while preparing for
success in an interconnected world.
