Connecting High-Achieving, Low-Income Students with Top Colleges

QuestBridge is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that helps outstanding students from low-income backgrounds gain access to some of the most selective colleges and universities in the United States. Founded in 1994, QuestBridge has helped thousands of students attend highly competitive institutions by providing college admissions support, scholarships, and access to educational opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.

QuestBridge partners with more than 55 leading colleges and universities, including BC, BU, CalTech, Duke, Emory, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Northwestern, Stanford, UChicago, Vanderbilt, WashU, the Ivy League, and many other others. The organization offers two primary programs for high school students. The College Prep Scholars Program is designed for high school juniors and provides resources to help students prepare for the college application process. For high school seniors, the National College Match is QuestBridge's flagship program. Through this highly competitive process, students can apply to multiple partner colleges through one application and may be matched with a college that agrees to provide a full four-year scholarship covering tuition, room, board, books, and other expenses. Applications typically open during the summer and are due in late September. Match results are announced in early December. Students interested in QuestBridge should demonstrate strong academic achievement, leadership, and involvement in extracurricular activities. While there is no strict income cutoff, most successful applicants come from households earning less than approximately $65,000 annually for a family of four, although students from families with somewhat higher incomes may still qualify if they have significant financial circumstances.

Application materials generally include academic records, a high school transcript, essays, information about extracurricular activities and leadership experiences, family financial information, and recommendations from teachers and school counselors. Because the application is comprehensive, students are encouraged to begin preparing materials well before the deadline.
