Students Advance to State FBLA Competition
Three Upper School students attended the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) Regional Conference at York College. They had the opportunity to listen to a panel of current students and staff within the Business Department and tour the Graham School of Business.
While they were there, our students received some wonderful news! Congratulations to seniors Assata Jones (Human Resource Management) and Wesley Keller (Personal Finance) on advancing to the state level competition in their categories. They will travel to Hershey in April for this event. Way to represent the York Academy, Knights!
Orrstown Bank Contributes $25,000
Many thanks to Orrstown Bank for their incredibly generous $25,000 contribution through PA's Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC)! Their donation will be used to benefit students at the York Academy, and we are truly grateful.
Students Hudson Graham and Reed Arthur were able to meet with Mr. Hal Carney III, Executive Vice-President, and Mr. Aaron Kveragas, Vice President and Business Banking Team Leader, during the check presentation.

Students Have Unforgettable Environmental Tri-State Field Experiences
Juniors and seniors in Mrs. Reed's Diploma Programme (DP) Science classes were on a quest to investigate the environmental changes that affect the Codorus Creek watershed and the greater Chesapeake Bay.
They worked to determine the health of our waterways and created school-based action plans that will positively impact our grounds and make them greener.
Students had meaningful field experiences and took water samples at Port Isabel, VA in the Tangier Sound, from the Codorus State Park and near the Philip Merrill Environmental Center in Annapolis, MD. They also took samples from the Codorus Creek near the Upper School and compared their findings.
York Academy also hosted the final event for the 22nd Annual Watershed Week. We're extremely proud of them for making a tri-state impact through environmental stewardship as global citizens!
First Graders Make Global and Local Impact Through Food Drive
York Academy first graders made a local and global impact through their annual Food Drive and Monetary Service Project! Lower School students donated over 800 pounds of canned/boxed items to benefit Catholic Harvest Food Pantry. They also raised funds to support Heifer International. Some of our fourth graders even came to help pack the van. It was wonderful to see how our students and families #UKnighted to help others here and abroad! Check out this terrific coverage from WGAL News 8!
Students Travel to Chile and Argentina
Students who participated in Knights International this summer returned from their international tour of Chile and Argentina with Education First (EF). They explored culture, food, lifestyles and more while visiting Santiago, Vina del Mar, Valparaiso, and San Pedro de Atacama in Chile, and Buenos Aires in Argentina.
Here are some of their most memorable activities:
• A graffiti painting experience/workshop in Valparaiso
• Touring Moon Valley in the Atacama Desert
• Taking a cooking class to learn how to make ceviche at the local fish market in Santiago
• Getting a tango dance lesson in Buenos Aires
The students got to connect their learning to real life while being open-minded, risk-taking International Baccalaureate (IB) global citizens. Many thanks goes to Mr. Bartrom for coordinating the entire trip and spearheading this incredible (annual) opportunity for our students. We're very proud of the way they represented the York Academy internationally!
Esports Team Excels at National Championship
We're pleased to share that two members of the York Academy Esports Team are National Champions! The York Academy Fortniters - Jermaine Bailey and Michael Rivera-Field - won the Amateur Esports Association National Tournament in Massachusetts by four points. They beat many teams from all over the country and earned a collegiate scholarship. We're so proud of all of the members of our Esports Team and appreciate the leadership of Coaches Hood and Diaczun. Congrats, Knights!
