York Academy offers a tuition-free, K–12 education grounded in academic rigor, supportive relationships, and a strong sense of community, preparing students to thrive in school and beyond.
Who Can Apply?
Students from across Pennsylvania are welcome to apply to York Academy. Each grade level has a limited number of seats, and enrollment is determined through a random lottery, in accordance with state guidelines.
If seats remain available after priority placement, offers are extended to other applicants. Students who are not initially selected are placed on a waiting list, and families are contacted in lottery order if openings become available during the school year.
Application Timeline for the 2026–27 School Year
- Application Window: February 1 – March 31
- Enrollment Lottery: April 6 at 5:30 PM
- Lottery Results: Communicated to families via email
While applications are accepted year-round, families are strongly encouraged to apply between February 1 and March 31 to ensure their child is included in the annual lottery. Applications submitted after March 31 will be added to the waiting list.

Admissions Information Sessions (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
Considering York Academy? Attending an Admissions Information Session is the best way to fully understand what makes our school unique.
Families will:
- Learn about the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum
- Receive clear guidance on the application and lottery process
- Tour the school and experience our learning environment firsthand
- 10th Graders: bring your transcripts for review to an informational meeting
No registration is required, and children are welcome.

Parking is available on surrounding streets and in the Philadelphia Street Parking Lot.

Sibling Applications & Waitlist Information
Already part of our Knight family and looking to enroll a sibling? A separate application is required for each child, including students entering kindergarten.
Students who are currently on the waiting list must reapply for the 2026–27 school year to remain eligible.
